In November of 2010 I received an e-mail about a special program sponsored by Honeywell Hometown Solutions that sends educators to space camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  I couldn't believe it, could this be my chance to actually go to Space Camp?  So I filled out the application and sent it in over Christmas break.  I had kind of forgot about it until it was time for the Space Shuttle Discovery to take off.  While that mission was underway I would have it on everyday for my students to see what was going on and kept thinking how cool would that be to have experiences like that!  Then on March 3rd I was having parent/teacher conferences and of course still had the Discovery mission on when I got an e-mail message that I had been accepted to attend Honeywell Space Academy for Educators June 16 -  21, 2011.  I couldn't believe it!  Then later they offered an extra day of programing through the Civil Air Patrol so no way could I pass that up!  So they are flying me down and back, providing meals, housing and a once in a lifetime opportunity 6/15-6/22, 2011.  So thanks to the support and flexibility of my wife and kids, SPACE CAMP HERE I COME!
